CS2 files hint at possible tripwire grenades and new missions
Players have discovered new references to tripwire grenades in the files of Counter-Strike 2. While nothing has been officially confirmed, this suggests that a new type of grenade may be in development.
According to the data, the tripwire grenades could be tied to a new mode. This mode may also feature unique mission mechanics not yet seen in CS2.
Developers have recently removed model paths and scripts for heavy armor, which was commonly used in cooperative gameplay. Interestingly, the same batch of updates also includes references to tripwire grenades. At first glance, these might seem unrelated—but the presence of mission-related data suggests they could be part of a new, mysterious mode. However, nothing concrete has been announced yet.
In addition, these unique missions may reward players with points instead of, or in addition to, XP. These points appear to be exchangeable for currency in the Arsenal store.
Earlier, CS2 introduced souvenir packages featuring highlights from the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 playoffs. Along with top plays from the final stage, the game also received a capsule containing autographs from members of Team Vitality.
