CS2 Update Adds New Animations and Brings Map Changes

It’s only been around a month since Valve moved Overpass back to the CS2 Active Duty Pool. Still, it’s already received fresh adjustments, alongside two other popular maps. Also, this CS2 update includes technical changes to some in-game animations, gameplay fixes, and audio improvements.

New CS2 Animations

Counter-Strike 2 is migrating to AnimGraph2 for its animation system. To make this upgrade happen, Valve’s added some new animations to the game.

• Various first-person animations
• All chicken animations

Changes to Three CS2 Maps

Overpass, Train, and Inferno have been adjusted with the CS2 update from July 29, 2025. Here is a brief summary of the important changes.

Overpass

• B doors now have breakable glass.
• Near B site, the tops of broken walls are more flat now.
• Some grass near bombsite A has been removed.
• Heaven’s railing and the truck angle on A site are slightly different.
• The truckbed view to the stairs has been blocked.
• The wall behind the dumpster around A Stairs has been moved up.

Train

• The CT side platform on B is higher now.
• A new cover appears on A site by Hell train, on B site outside of Z, and in Upper B halls.
• Lighting on B site and the cover in Ivy have been adjusted.

Inferno

• In Church: the window above Coffins is open now; the garden pathway has been narrowed around the entrance door and widened near Coffins.
• The first box on B site has an adjusted shape.
• The devs completed repairs on the bombsite A site balcony railing.
• The curbs on Mid have been removed.
• Visual adjustment on Banana.

Gameplay Fixed

The update from July 29, 2025 has brought some significant fixes to gameplay and CS2 audio. There’s improved damage prediction during movement, and no more automatic shotgun reload if it has been interrupted.

In addition to various improvements for weapon reload and draw sounds, the game has new console commands for speed-sensitive sounds during CS2 surfing.
