Karrigan Turns Away from s1mple After Praising Him as the Greatest

Broky has returned to FaZe Clan, marking a new and strange chapter in the team’s internal story. His comeback after several months away was unexpected — most fans anticipated a new AWPer, potentially even the signing of s1mple. But even more surprising was the reaction from FaZe’s in-game leader, Finn "karrigan" Andersen, who had just weeks earlier described Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev as one of the greatest teammates he's ever had.

Two Months of Admiring s1mple

After s1mple joined FaZe on a temporary basis, karrigan publicly praised the Ukrainian star:

“I’ll do everything I can to help Sasha achieve great results.”

“We had deep talks. I hope s1mple teaches me something, and I teach him too.”

“The last time I played with a player of s1mple’s caliber was years ago — with NiKo.”

“He brought new chemistry, a new style. We were in a slump, and he gave us a spark.”

These statements seemed sincere. And why wouldn’t they be? s1mple was FaZe’s best player throughout the spring tournaments, leading the team to the playoff stage of the Austin Major — their first major playoff run of the season.

But After the Major, Everything Changed

Despite s1mple’s strong individual performance, FaZe didn’t reach the grand final. Shortly after, broky returned, and karrigan’s tone suddenly shifted:

“Even during the Major, I told broky he should come back. In theory, we could’ve signed s1mple — but only if we won the final and he got MVP.”

This sounds more like an excuse than a reasonable explanation — and comes off as harsh and two-faced. Just weeks earlier, karrigan was calling Kostyliev the “spark” and the team’s savior. Now it’s “no MVP, no contract.” But simply making the playoffs — especially with a player returning after a year-long break — was already a major achievement.

The “Broky Fire”? Where’s the Logic?

Karrigan also explained broky’s return by saying:

“I missed the fire he brings in matches. That’s a key factor.”

But that same “fire” failed FaZe before, which led to their dramatic shake-up and the introduction of s1mple in the first place. Bringing in s1mple was supposed to change the team’s mentality, chemistry, and playstyle — according to karrigan himself. So now the fire is magically reignited?

This Is Disrespectful to s1mple

Many fans viewed karrigan’s sudden shift as disrespectful. He didn’t honestly say: “We didn’t have the budget,” or “s1mple didn’t fit our structure.” Instead, he tried to justify the decision by portraying broky’s return as some sort of win. But the numbers tell a different story — broky has just a 1.04 rating this season and is currently one of the weakest AWPers in tier-1 CS.

A FaZe Mistake That Could Cost the Season

S1mple genuinely could have helped FaZe return to the top. Instead, the team seems to have taken a step back. The decision to bring back broky — and the way karrigan tried to justify it — feels more like saving face than a clear, strategic move.

Now, confidence in FaZe’s future is rapidly declining. If they underperform in the second half of the season, these comments and choices will haunt them for a long time.
