Dupreeh announces retirement from professional CS2
Danish Counter-Strike player Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen has officially announced his retirement from professional play. The veteran made the announcement live on stage ahead of the grand final of BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, with the moment broadcast on the event’s official stream.
Rasmussen thanked his fans for their support throughout his career. He mentioned that winning a sixth Major had been his ultimate goal, and that making the decision to retire was extremely difficult. During his speech, Dupreeh became emotional and struggled to hold back tears.
Rasmussen had been active in the professional CS scene since 2012. Playing for Astralis and Team Vitality, he won numerous tier-1 tournaments, including five Major titles. Over the course of his career, he earned more than $2.2 million in prize money.
Following his announcement, current and former professional Counter-Strike players reacted on X (formerly Twitter), thanking Dupreeh for his contributions to the game and wishing him the best for the future.
