apEX Shaves His Head Bald

Team Vitality captain Dan “apEX” Madesclaire has finally fulfilled a promise he made more than two years ago — to shave his head bald in celebration of winning the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. Though the home Major is now well behind him, the 32-year-old French player stuck to his word and revealed the dramatic transformation on social media.

In the shared video, apEX appears with a completely shaved head and grins at the camera as he addresses his fans:

"Hey guys. As you can see, I actually did it — my head is like a damn egg now. I told you I would do it, I just needed to wait. I didn’t shave after the Paris Major, but I did it after the tournament in Austin. Three-time Major winner. Don’t underestimate the power of bald.”

A Promise Two Years in the Making

Back in spring 2023, Team Vitality claimed its first-ever Major title on home soil in France. The victory over GamerLegion in the grand final of the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 was a career milestone for both the team and its long-standing captain. Ahead of the tournament, apEX had publicly vowed to shave his head if they won it all. But after lifting the trophy, he opted for light-hearted banter and photos — no clippers involved.

Fans, however, didn’t forget. Over the months and years that followed, reminders regularly popped up on social media. Some urged apEX to fulfill his promise, while others began to doubt it would ever happen.

In June 2025, apEX and Vitality secured another title at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025. It was the second Major victory for Vitality since Paris and the third of apEX’s career. This time, there was no extravagant vow ahead of the tournament — but perhaps inspired by the occasion, apEX finally decided to honor his Paris pledge, even if it came fashionably late.
