Unusual Shooting Technique of Kyousuke in CS2

Maxim "Kyousuke" Lukin is the new Russian player in the Falcons Esport roster (he joined the team from Team Spirit Academy on June 23, 2025, replacing Emil "Magisk" Reif). He is set to debut at the IEM Cologne 2025 tournament. Fans have noticed that when he sprays (fires in automatic mode) for extended periods, Kyousuke has a unique aiming technique: he simultaneously presses both mouse buttons – left-click (LMB) and right-click (RMB). However, when shooting in single shots (taps), he only presses the LMB. A video posted in early July showcasing this shooting style has raised numerous questions: why does he do this, and what benefit does he gain from it?

Kyousuke has not provided official comments yet, so various hypotheses are being discussed online. Several main versions are highlighted:

Improving Spray Control: By pressing both LMB and RMB simultaneously, the weight of the hand is more evenly distributed across the mouse body. This provides additional support and allows him to better "feel" the recoil. According to calculations, with his very high sensitivity (eDPI ≈ 1028), even the slightest involuntary movement can shift the aim and ruin the spray. Thus, this double-click practice may stabilize the mouse and make the shooting more accurate.

Maintaining Focus: A regular click of the right mouse button could serve as a "rhythmic anchor" for his attention. Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, one of Russia’s top players, admits that when shooting with the AK-47, he regularly clicks the right mouse button to maintain focus: “I click both buttons… just a habit to keep me from losing concentration.” Similarly, Alexander "s1mple" Kostylev, during moments outside of the round, unconsciously clicks RMB—likely also to maintain concentration. Kyousuke might have adopted this "method" or acts on a similar principle.

Aimbot: Fans jokingly suggested that the right mouse button might have an "aimbot" or another cheat that makes shooting easier. This theory is more far-fetched (the player likely does not engage in such behavior), but it highlights the community’s surprise: the idea of a "secret" within the button adds to the mystery.

Some commentators also point out the physical aspect: according to them, pressing both buttons at once "balances the forces" and creates additional downward pressure, which helps to stabilize the mouse and keep the aim steady. One Reddit user noted: “you already have to click the left button, pressing the right button balances out the forces on the mouse.” Another added that "pressing any button increases the downward force" and "this helps control the shooting better." From a mechanical perspective, an additional click indeed might create a more stable mouse position.

It should be noted that Kyousuke himself officially denied the claim that he always holds down the RMB while spraying. Boris "magixx" Vorobyov shared in an interview that he personally asked Kyousuke about the two-button spray technique. Maxim responded, "That’s not true." However, Magixx acknowledged that Lukin might have been joking or "misleading" him to avoid helping the opponents: "He might have lied to me so I wouldn’t improve my skill." Therefore, it remains unclear whether the fans' observations are accurate. In any case, there is no official proof of a special "fourth button."

IEM Cologne 2025: Play-In and Groups Determined

Some players sit extremely close to the screen, like YEKINDAR, others change their mouse grip, while some use rituals to maintain focus. As journalists point out, “many players have their own secrets that help them perform better,” and perhaps for Maxim Lukin, pressing both buttons is indeed his own "quirk." It remains to be seen how his gameplay evolves: perhaps practice will reveal whether this technique offers real benefits or just creates an element of surprise.
