M4A1-S or M4A4: What Do Pro Players Prefer in CS2?
In the ongoing debate between M4A1-S and M4A4, asked six professional Counter-Strike 2 players to share their opinions on which rifle they prefer — and why. The responses, while varied in reasoning, leaned heavily in favor of one weapon: the M4A1-S.
The first to respond was m0NESY, a star AWPer for Falcons, who answered simply: "M4A1-S."
Next, molodoy echoed that preference with the same answer: "M4A1-S."
FL4MUS offered a more nuanced view, saying:
“That is a hard one. Depends on the map, depends on the position where you’re playing. Sometimes it’s better to have an A4 to have more bullets — for example, when I’m playing close distance, because A4 is even shooting faster. But sometimes you need the A1-S because it’s easier to control when shooting at distance. So, it depends on the map.”
Ultimate kept it short but neutral, saying:
“That depends on the day. I think it’s fifty-fifty. I like both.”
YEKINDAR from FURIA gave a detailed explanation:
“I’ve been trying to learn A4 since the price change, but I came to the conclusion that the silencer is still a lot easier for me to control and play around. I play many positions where I can spam smoke, and the tracers don’t give it away. Controlling the spray and melting enemies down is easier for me with the silencer, so I pick the silencer.”
Lastly, malbsMd shared a bit of nostalgia but sided with the A1-S:
“Lately I’ve been using A1 because it’s so easy to spam people. But back in CS:GO, it was so nice to kill with the A4 spray. I’ll go with A1.”
The Verdict
Out of the six players we asked, five showed clear preference for the M4A1-S, while only one remained neutral. Whether it’s because of its spray control, stealth from the silencer, or smoke-spam potential, the M4A1-S remains the favored choice for most professionals in the current CS2 meta.
